Common Heritage Press

I'm Jonathan Rose. I run Common Heritage Press. This started with one book. A friend had a copy called Gaining Favor with God and Man and I wanted my own. It took a while to work out what I was even looking for. That book is a 1989 reprint of an 1893 school reader called Ethics of Success, which was itself cut down from a longer book published in 1891 under a third name. Once I knew what to search for, the copies I could find were sixty-dollar originals or reprints that were photographs of somebody else's scan, crooked pages and all. The text has been public domain for over a hundred years, so nobody was charging me for the writing. They were charging me for how hard it is to find. That's the gap I'm trying to close. Plenty of books worth reading are out of print, and what's left is either expensive used copies or decorative editions priced as gifts. Either way, most people never read them. So I put them back in print and sell them on Amazon at a normal price, where anyone can have one in two days. Ethics of Success is the first. There will be more. I'll email you when one's ready.
